“Helping People In A Time Of Need”

The Death of a Loved One, a relative or a friend can be a very traumatic time. On the other hand, for some it might be regarded as being a blessing. Whatever the circumstance, the one single event that brings home the reality of what has happened is... the Funeral Service.

The Funeral is an integral part of the grieving and mourning process both for the immediate family as well as for those closely associated with the person who has died. It is a time for celebrating life, a time to honour, to remember and to reflect, even a time to laugh and to cry. It is also a time for letting go, though hard as that might sound, it is true, because the very first step that one takes out of or away from the funeral home, chapel, church, crematorium or cemetery at the end of the service, is the first step of a ‘New Beginning’. That is, a begining without the companionship of the person who has died.

In todays modern and diverse multi-cultural society in which we now live, the Church Funeral Service is no longer or necessarily the “norm”. More and more people are turning to the Funeral Celebrant to conduct the funeral service for and in behalf of their family.

The Role of the Funeral Celebrant

  • To Meet With The Grieving Family
    • Build a relationship of trust with them
    • Learn the life history and the accomplishments of the person who has died
    • Learn and gather the family history and important events
    • Assist the Family prepare the “Order of Service” and music for the funeral
    • Prepare the Eulogy (if required)
    • Confirm details after program has been prepared
  • Preside and Officiate at the Funeral Service
    • Liaise with the Funeral Director
    • Meet the Family at the funeral home, crematorium or cemetery
    • Ensure all of the immediate family are seated in the reserved seating at the front of the Chapel, or nearest the graveside for a cemetery service
    • Conduct the Funeral Service as per the Order of Service
    • Commital or Internment of the body of the person who has died
    • Conclude the service...invite mourners to comfort the grieving Family
    • Escort the immediate Family from Chapel or Graveside

What Type of Funeral Service Will My Family Have?

The Mitacare Funeral Celebrant will plan the funeral service with you and your family, whether that be a Religous or a Non-Religous, Non-Denominational service.
